Creative Tutoring for Children

​At Thrive, I offer personalised creative tutoring for children in Oxfordshire, conveniently located near Witney. Specialising in alternative provision and one-to-one tutoring, I work with children of all abilities from KS2 through to KS5 — meeting every learner exactly where they are.

 

With over 16 years of teaching experience across secondary and sixth form education, and a Master's in Advanced Educational Practice, specialising in SEND, I am deeply committed to nurturing creativity, building confidence, and inspiring a genuine love of learning in every child I work with.

I believe every child has a creative spark waiting to be unleashed. My sessions are thoughtfully tailored to each child's individual interests, hobbies, and passions — creating a space where they feel truly seen and heard. Through creative outcomes that reflect their personality and emotions, I help children develop self-belief, find their voice, and discover a meaningful outlet for expression and communication.

Johansen Individualised Auditory Stimulation

I have been trained by Johansen to provide Individualised Auditory Stimulation programmes— which provide a specialised, personalised music programme designed to support children and adults experiencing speech and language delays, reading and writing difficulties, and auditory processing challenges.​

 

This tailored programme helps the brain learn to process sound more efficiently, opening doors to greater confidence in communication, literacy, and learning.​

 

I work with children and adults with a wide range of SEND needs, including:

ADHD

Speech and language difficulties

Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC)

Thrive Neuro Studio

​I offer Neurological Developmental Delay (NDD) therapy, located near Witney in Oxfordshire. This gentle, evidence-informed approach targets the development of the central nervous system and supports the integration of retained primitive reflexes — which, when left unaddressed, can continue to affect a child's development well into adulthood.

​

NDD therapy is completely non-invasive and takes just a few minutes each day. It works through a combination of tactile skin stimulation and gentle, repetitive movements that mimic the natural sensations experienced in the womb and the developmental movements of a baby's first year of life — helping the body and brain complete the developmental steps they may have missed. Tutoring sessions are held in Freeland (OX29 8GD) where parents/carers are welcome to stay and read with a cup of tea for a moment of calm. Alternatively parents/carers can drop children off at the start of the session.

I am fully DBS checked, have qualified teacher status and first aid trained.

Pricing:
- Initial 1 hour consultation with assessment £130

- Follow up 1 hour appointments every 4 - 6 weeks £95 (the course will typically last for18 months) 

- 90 minute assessment with audiogram and a written report £350

- JIAS 1 hour assessment with audiogram £130
(In addition to this price you will need to pay the JIAS fee of £35 for each personalised piece of music every 8-12 weeks, a one off payment of £9.99 for the Sonorias app to play the music on your devices and suitable headphones from the list provided which is aproximately £15 for the basic model)

What are the Signs?

​

  • poor motor coordination and balance

  • poor timing and rhythm of movement (dysrhythmia)

  • poor speed and accuracy of movement

  • movement overflow (synkinesia)

  • poor sequencing of complex motor tasks

  • inability to recognise letters or numbers traced on the skin (agraphaesthia)

  • inability to recognise shape and size of an object by touch (astereognosis)

  • sensory-perceptual difficulties/altered processing of information

  • poor laterality/functional predominance of one side of the body

  • impaired audio-visual integration

  • clumsiness

  • poor balance

  • poor fine motor skills

  • poor motor sequencing

  • cross laterality or poorly defined laterality

  • poor visual motor integration/hand eye coordination

  • poor attention, concentration and memory

 

Physical and developmental issues listed may also present themselves as:

  • problems with reading

  • chellenges with writing

  • difficulties with spelling

  • difficulties with presentation of information on a page

  • unable to complete tasks correctly and on time

  • difficulties with PE 

  • unable to tie shoe laces

  • behavioural issues, including hyperactivity 

  • anxiety

 

When at home you may also notice:

  • difficulties dressing themselves

  • unable to tell the time from an analogue clock

  • difficulties learning to ride a bicycle - balance and co-ordination

  • messy eating

  • 'fussy' or 'picky' eaters

  • anger/frustration

  • toddler like behaviours

  • exhaustion from masking all day

  • food intolerances

  • travel sickness

  • sleep issues 

  • immaturity/baby voices

 

Some children may already have a diagnosis or waiting for an assessment of:

  • Dyslexia

  • Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) or Dyspraxia

  • Dyscalculia - difficulty in learning mathematics

  • Attention Deficit Disorder with or without Hyperactivity – ADD or ADHD

  • Dysphasia, speech and language delay and/or deficit
